1,300-Student Pre-K thru 5 Elementary School

White Oak Elementary School

This exciting 189,000-square-foot elementary school serves as the School District’s single Pre-K thru 5 facility that replaced and consolidated three antiquated elementary school buildings. The new facility meets both student and community needs and supports and enhances the School District’s philosophy of nurturing the whole human being.

With a capacity of 1,300 students, the design challenge was to provide intimacy and group identity for young children in a large building. The building features three two-story wings, or “houses.” The three first floors separately house the youngest children – early childhood/kindergarten, first grade and second grade. The three second floors provide individual homes for third, fourth and fifth grades. Each “house” is designed with a unique color palette to reinforce group identity. Age-appropriate appointed classrooms respond to the various age groups of children housed in the building.

Other features include two gymnasiums, a two-level learning center, a two-sided stage, full-service kitchen/cafeteria and District administration center.
