Willow Grove Early Learning Center

Challenge: The 1970s building’s leased octagonal wing wasn’t ADA-accessible, its old gang-toilet rooms weren’t suitable for young children, it had no way to serve lunch, and code limited any non-sprinklered addition to just 7,200 sf.

Solution: End the building’s daycare lease to free up roughly 8,800 sf for full-day kindergarten, then maximize the 7,200-sf non-sprinklered allowance with two new classrooms and a new cafeteria/kitchen.

Six renovated kindergarten classrooms each with its own ADA-accessible toilet room and sliding-panel storage, identified by color and animal icon and carried through to matching hallway lockers.

New 4,500-sf cafeteria built to serve 250 students, with cedar trusses, ground-level glazing and clerestory daylight, wood-look LVT flooring, and a courtyard deck extension for dining, teaching, and play.
