Challenge: The existing library at Wilmette Junior High School no longer reflected how students and teachers actually learn, lacking the collaborative zones, differentiated spaces, and maker-oriented resources that 7th and 8th graders need.

Solution: A comprehensive renovation of the existing learning center designed to balance collaborative and multi-zone spaces with the right mix of traditional and digital information resources, supporting group-oriented, project-based learning alongside independent work.

New spaces include a presentation studio, tinkering lab, small group rooms, planning rooms, and dedicated storage; breakout rooms with glass walls promote educational transparency and allow staff to monitor activity across the commons
